This is fine example of well-known Oaxacan artisan Eleazar Morales' special "hangdog" carving. The charming dog is lying on its stomach, checking out the surroundings below it. It is painted a mottled dark and light blue with a green and turquoise freeform design. It has lavender highlights on its detailed face and feet, with peach and red tones on its stomach and sides. This wonderful cactus with flowers and hummingbird is by the Mixe artisans, who are from the Mixe region of eastern Oaxaca state. They have been creating distinctive folkart for a quarter of a century. The cactus is dark green with pale blue and pink definition, with three bright pink flowers.
